“WAR LANDS” is a stylized action-adventure-fantasy that takes us to an ancient land, where gods still roam the earth. Our Chinese hero, William, is shipwrecked and tested straight away by an enemy War tribe. On the brink of death, he is saved by the half-god/half-mortal princess Titiro. William joins Titiro’s Maori tribe, and we see them slowly fall in love…as William tries to adapt to a new way of life.

William’s journey is a story of a man who has been lost for some time, broken-hearted, and looking for where he belongs in this world. Along the way, he faces racism, discrimination, loss, the feeling of not belonging, and challenges. Through his introduction into Titiro’s Maori tribe, we see him change, grow, adapt and educate the Maori in the Chinese ways of life.

Tonally, the genre of the film is a mix of Lord of the Rings mixed with The Last Samurai mixed with Apocolypt With more culture, more magic, and more intrigued! The world which William enters is mystical, extremely beautiful, and incredibly dangerous.
